In the coming weeks, the podcast will surge back to life with new interviews and episodes focusing on every possible aspect of performance anxiety: what it’s like, how and why it manifests, strategies that help, strategies that…don’t help…As well as current and future directions in research.

I invite you to leave a message with questions about performance anxiety/stage fright/etc. you’d like answered, or experiences you’ve had or witnessed that have stuck with you. I know more than one professional musician who has walked away from a successful career rather than endure the fear and trauma associated with playing for other people. I’m not the only one who is talking about this stuff (helloooooo Noa, you kind-hearted and astute rockstar) but it still feels a little taboo to really dig in.

The number will always ring through to voicemail, so never worry that you’ll call at the wrong time or find a live human being on the other end when you were hoping to leave a message.

As far as I know, Google Voice only allows 3 minutes per voicemail recording, so if you want to leave a longer vm, you can always send an email with a link to the file in your Google Drive or other cloud storage site.

The number for the Lonely Cello voice inbox is: 323 657 9455. When you call, please include your first name name or, if you prefer to be anonymous, mention that right off the top. By leaving a recording, you give me permission to use the audio in the podcast in good faith. If you would like to leave a message but for the audio to remain private, let me know that! Again, by leaving a message, you are agreeing that I can talk about what you’ve said, even if we don’t use the audio.

PS: I love this picture of old-timey operators. Although I didn’t get to know any of my grandparents well, I know my maternal grandmother worked as an operator in Rochester, NY for many years. I wonder if there are any pictures of her at the switchboard anywhere. I’ll be visiting my folks in a few weeks, and maybe I’ll dig through the photos and report back.

Looking forward to hearing your messages, and let me know if there are any glitches for folks calling outside of the US. I want to hear from you, too!
