Private Lessons for Adult Learners
There are several ways to work with me, the most common of which is joining my private studio. Cello students of all levels, including beginners, ages 16 and up are welcome to join after an initial first lesson to see if we are a good match. Non-cellists
You don’t have to be a cellist to study theory, history or ear training with me, and I also have a few non-cellist string players in my private studio long term. Of course, you have to have a solid foundation on your instrument of preference, but guidance on relaxed technique, phrasing, musicianship, breathing, interpretation, bow apportionment, etc is available. Ages 16 and up.
Crash Course
Students of all levels and ages are welcome to complete a short term course of remedial study (usually between 3 and 10 lessons) to shore up knowledge on a variety of topics, including music theory, history, ear training, a particular technique, or gain new perspective.
Audition, Competition, and Performance Prep
Audition preparation is offered as scheduling permits, and in this, I take only cellists—I have been on many audition panels, but each instrument has such particular excerpts and repertoire that I cannot claim expertise enough to coach anything other than the instrument I have auditioned countless times upon. The curriculum flexes in response to the demands of the ensemble, from ambitious youth orchestra to fully professional symphonic ensemble. Mock auditions are part of this kind of training, and on occasion, I may bring in other colleagues as a panel of listeners to offer the most balanced and helpful input. You may also book a mock audition, competition, or recital on its own. All ages. Other professionals welcome!
