In case you’re not on the epic GoogleWave I’ve created to coordinate the tour and are interested in taking a lesson in either DC/Baltimore or Atlanta, here is the sign up sheet. DC dates are March 1-5, Atlanta is March 6-8. Schedules are still being worked out. You can always email me at tour(at)emilywright(dot)net.

Information about payment and pricing is here!

The Atlanta Cello Project will be hosting me for the second year in a row, and we’re trying to hash out the details of the group seminar. Most importantly, I want to be useful, edifying, and appeal to as many participants as possible. Topics I’m considering:

1) The Talent Code: how we learn, why we get better, 3 things you can do to make your practice more effective.

2) You, too, can love the metronome. How and why it’s so good, and it’s not for the reasons you think.

3) The Zen of saying what you mean: emoting on the cello and influencing your mind with physical discipline.

Or, as I’ve suggested before: it could also just be an epic Q and A. Then we wouldn’t need an individual seminar participant, but it would be more of a “cellos in the round” affair. In fact, none of these require a solo player, and would benefit from lots of people. If that ends up being the case, it will be a modified group practice.

Just putting the word out. New cello-y post coming up soon!

  1. Interesting questions on the sign-up form. I regret that I can't join you.

If I had to make something better in an instant – better rhythm and phrasing.
